Ksaveras Kairys

Ksaveras Kairys (born October 22, 1909 in Riga , Latvia , † July 12, 1991 in Vilnius ) was a Lithuanian economist and Soviet-Lithuanian politician.

Life

From 1926 to 1928 he was a member of Komsomol in Biržai . In 1929 he graduated from the Biržai High School and in 1939 the Riga Commercial Institute. In 1940 he was a civil servant in the Vilnius City Council . He took part in World War II. From 1947 to 1957 he was Minister for the Meat and Dairy Industry, from 1950 to 1953 and from 1962 to 1965 Deputy Prime Minister. In 1953 he was Deputy Minister for Light Industry and the Food Industry . From 1967 to 1985 he was a member (deputate) in the Supreme Soviet of Lithuania and from 1962 to 1979 of the Soviet Union .

From 1946 to 1989 he was a member of the CPSU .
