Kuźnica (magazine)

Kuźnica (Polish for: smith ) was a Polish literary weekly. It was published in Lodz from 1945 to 1949 and in Warsaw from 1949 to 1950 . The first editor was Stefan Żółkiewski , he was followed in 1949 by Paweł Hoffman . The magazine influenced the spread of a Marxist conception of literature and art in Poland. In Kuźnica published u. A. the writers Kazimierz Brandys , Paweł Hertz , Mieczysław Jastrun , Adam Ważyk and Juliusz Żuławski and the literary theorists Jan Kott and Ryszard Matuszewski . In 1950 it was merged with Odrodzenie to form the new literary magazine Nowa Kultura , which existed until 1963.
