The Kulturfabrik Moabit is a building on Lehrter Straße Berlin-Moabit that was formerly used as a factory and warehouse and has a cinema, a theater, a café as well as concert and party rooms. The building, inaugurated in 1911, is a listed building .

The Wertheim House at Lehrter Strasse 35, built by Ernst Scharnke in 1911 for the Wertheim Group , was an army butcher's shop, biscuit factory, home for stone carving and tin cans - the office building housed many facets of Berlin's industry. Between 1976 and 1991 all was quiet around the former factory. Windows and doors on the first floor were walled up, the house was dusk.
In 1991 the building was finally reopened after negotiations with the Berlin Senate ; the culture factory Moabit was born. Artists, residents and students organized themselves in the associations Kulturfabrik Lehrter Straße 35 eV , Fabriktheater , Filmrauschpalast eV , Slaughterhouse eV , 35 Services eV (since 2007) and Kunsthalle Moabit eV (the latter until 1996). You still work in the same internal structure today; the association Kulturfabrik Lehrter Str. 35 eV serves as a common roof and plenum for the smaller associations and as a representative of the house towards authorities and the public. In addition, the umbrella association includes a team of teachers; This provides daily child and youth care and offers a variety of courses and leisure activities.

What began in 1991 as a simple idea has now developed entirely on its own and without any institutional support to become Moabit's only socio- cultural cultural center with theater, cinema, concerts, café and educational support for local children and young people. Managed as a non-profit association since 1991, the Kulturfabrik Moabit bundles the power of around 150 volunteer and 40 full-time employees (through ABM, RBM and MAE).
A regular film and theater program, concert and party dates, the Long Night of Diving, pub golf tournaments , workshop workshops and neighborhood help (including repairs) are among the standard offers at the Kulturfabrik Moabit.
In September 2011 the Favorites Film Festival Berlin took place for the first time in the premises of the Kulturfabrik and has since established itself as an annual series of events.
