Cultural model

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A culture model is an approach to the description of culturally anchored thought patterns and examines the handling of social phenomena and problems that are generally widespread and recognized in the collective of a culture , for example the relationship between the individual and society. The best-known studies on cultural models were carried out by the Dutch cultural scientist Geert Hofstede (on intercultural cooperation ) and the American anthropologist Edward T. Hall (on cultural dimensions ).

These cultural models find practical application in intercultural communication or intercultural competence . The basics of the cultural models combine findings from various scientific fields, especially ethnology (ethnology), sociology , cultural studies and psychology .
