Feng Xiliang

Feng Xiliang , also: CL Feng (* 1920 ; † January 30, 2006 in Beijing ) was a Chinese journalist .

Life

Feng graduated from St. John's University in Shanghai in 1943 and received his masters degree in journalism from the University of Missouri in 1948 . He then studied graphic design at Columbia University in New York . At the time of the communist revolution in China in 1949 he returned to his homeland and worked for English-language government newspapers and magazines, from 1950 to 1952 as editor for the world news at the Beijing International News Agency , as editor of People's China , as deputy editor-in-chief of the weekly Beijing Review (1958 to 1978).

In 1981 he co-founded the Chinese newspaper China Daily , the English language news paper of the Chinese Communist Party. Feng was the managing editor and editor-in-chief of China Daily from 1984 to 1987 , and previously deputy editor-in-chief from 1981 to 1984.

In 1987, Feng retired. He continued to work as chairman of the supervisory board of the "China Daily Distribution Corporation (FARA)" based in New York and of the newspaper "Window" in Hong Kong . Feng was the National Committee of Member since 1986 Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference ( "Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference" (CPPCC)).

In 1984, Feng was awarded the Medal of Honor for outstanding journalism from the University of Missouri's Missouri School of Journalism.
