Stage in the cultural center Kammgarn (2009)

The Kammgarn cultural center was opened in Kaiserslautern in 1988 and is located in the buildings of the worsted spinning mill, which went bankrupt in 1981, in the immediate vicinity of the garden show .

The buildings are listed and, in addition to the two large event rooms Casino and Museum 2, also house a club - the Cotton Club - which is also used for concerts. The Kammgarn International Jazz Festival and the Kammgarn International Blues Festival in the Cotton Club take place once a year . The special ambience is set in scene at night by a light installation by the Palatinate artist Michael Seyl . In addition, various sculptors installed permanently installed exhibits on the site.

Since it was founded, over two million people have visited the cultural center for around 4,300 events (as of 2006).

In order to avoid the threat of bankruptcy, the organizer has been demanding the so-called "worsted solos " since mid-December 2012 . Tickets for certain events cost one euro more.
