The Kaiserslautern Garden Show is a leisure park in Kaiserslautern ( Rhineland-Palatinate ) that opens in the summer months (March – October).

General

The area of ​​the garden show is located on the former slaughterhouse and the adjacent Kaiserberg. In the course of time, the worsted yarn spinning mill was returned to the Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences .

The park is divided into themes, such as aqua or cultural gardens .

After the end of the state horticultural show, some new elements were added. The site is home to mini golf and a large children's playground. On the Kaiserberg there is a willow church that was built by volunteers.

Until 2009 the garden show was a subsidiary of the city of Kaiserslautern, before it was transferred to a new operating company under the leadership of Lebenshilfe Kaiserslautern, which was renamed Lebenshilfe Westpfalz since 2013.

history

The Kaiserslautern Garden Show was opened in 2000, roughly at the same time as the Japanese Garden in Kaiserslautern .

Since 2002 there has been an exhibition with life-size dinosaur models distributed over the site.

After the Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences wanted to expand the university on the site of the former worsted spinning mill, the main entrance had to move to the former slaughterhouse in 2009/10.

In 2010 the event hall opened with space for 1000–1200 people. In addition, since 2011 the hall has been home to the “Kaiserslautern on ice” ice rink in the winter months from mid-November to mid / end of February.

On the occasion of the state horticultural show in 2000, the regional express line Karlsruhe – Kaiserslautern was tied through the Kaiserslauter main station to the Lampertsmühle-Otterbach station ; the trains also stopped at the nearby Westbahnhof during this time.

Main entrance

The main entrance to the garden show is located on the site of a former slaughterhouse. Next to the main entrance there is a restaurant and the garden show shop in this area. A large event hall and the exhibition hall are right next door.

Neumühlepark

The Neumühlenpark is a park with many different leisure options. In this area there is a mini golf course, a small football field, a skater facility and a large playground with a slide tower and play castle. There is a large water playground next door. For this purpose, life-size dinosaur models are distributed throughout the site, which can be explored on the dinosaur educational trail. In addition, there is an artificial spring pond in the Neumühlepark, from which the “Neue Lauter” crosses the park. There is also an open-air theater here.

Kaiserberg

The Kaiserberg is a local recreation area on the grounds of the garden show. In addition to a restaurant, the willow church, willow school (green classroom) and several gardens (e.g. blind garden, dance garden) are located here.

For every child born on January 1st, 2000 in Rhineland-Palatinate, an apple tree was planted on the Millennium Grove, a total of 89 trees. An information board gives the names of all children.

The former site of the worsted spinning mill was the main entrance until 2009, with various exhibition rooms.

The public utility Kaiserslautern operates the garden show Kaiserslautern over the lines 112, 108 West breakpoint station and 105, 107 breakpoint worsted. From there it is only a few minutes' walk to the main entrance. Line 102 stops at the Schulzentrum Nord stop at the Kaiserberg entrance.
