Culture yes elu
Kultuur ja Elu (German “Culture and Life”) is a cultural magazine in Estonia .
Foundation and frequency of publication
The magazine was founded in 1958 and can be seen as the fruit of the thaw after Stalin's death, because it ensured a certain loosening and broadening of the cultural spectrum. In the first two years the magazine was called Kultuuritöötaja (in German "The Culture Worker") and also played the role of a theater magazine that was missing in Estonia at the time. It was also a popular culture-oriented consumer magazine. During the Singing Revolution , it was an important forum for dealing with subjects that were taboo in the Soviet Union .
Kultuur ja elu was published monthly until 1993, ten issues were published in 1994 and 1995, and since 1996 the magazine has appeared four times a year. The editorial office is based in Tallinn .
Today's orientation
In the 21st century the magazine developed into an almost exclusively military history publication, which primarily deals with the fate of the Estonian soldiers in World War II . At times she was suspected of having a predilection for National Socialism .
