Kumba Jaiteh

Ya Kumba Jaiteh (* around 1989) is a Gambian lawyer and politician .

Life

Ya Kumba Jaiteh studied law in Gambia and Great Britain. She graduated from Anglia Ruskin University with honors.

Following the 2017 general election , Jaiteh was elected by President Adama Barrow as one of five additional appointed Members of Parliament. For the president, she represented, as a young activist, the youth and their legal education will benefit the National Assembly. As a member of Parliament is the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Regional Government and country ( English Foreign Affairs Committee and the Local Government and Lands Committee ). Jaiteh is also a member of the Female Lawyers Association of The Gambia (FLAG).

On February 25, 2019, Barrow's nomination to Parliament was revoked, sparking controversy over the extent to which the Constitution gave him this option. On March 4th, Foday Gassama was nominated to succeed him.
