Female Lawyers Association Gambia

The Female Lawyers Association Gambia (FLAG) , also known as the Female Lawyers Association of The Gambia, is a Gambian women's rights organization .

FLAG is a non - partisan non- governmental organization that aims to improve the legal and social situation of women and children in Gambia. To this end, the organization strives for legal changes and offers information and training opportunities as well as legal assistance. She sees domestic violence, child abuse and exploitation as urgent problem areas.

history

The organization was founded in early 2007.

The organization has received several financial support from the US Embassy in Gambia and the British High Commissioner .

On several occasions, the FLAG defended women who had been arrested and charged as beggars.

From 2014, FLAG cooperated on a development project initiated by the European Commission with the Gambian branch of ActionAid and the National Women Farmers' Association (NAWFA).

In mid-December 2016, the organization supported a statement by the Gambia Bar Association that criticized President Yahya Jammeh's announced cancellation of the 2016 presidential election .
