Amie Joof Conteh

Amie Joof (also Amie Joof Conteh ) is a Gambian lawyer and politician.

Joof initially worked as a lawyer and was married to Abdoulie Conteh , who was temporarily mayor of Kanifing between 1994 and 2006 . She represented him several times in court.

After working as a lawyer, she was a High Court judge . In April 2012 she was appointed a judge on the Court of Appeal .

At the end of May 2013 she was appointed Attorneys General and Justice Minister of Gambia by President Yahya Jammeh , succeeding Lamin Jobarteh , who had previously been dismissed . Her successor in office was Mama Fatima Singhateh after her dismissal was announced on August 27, 2013 after only 14 weeks in office. The changes were part of a series of ministers exchanged within a short period of time.

After resigning as minister, she renewed her practice as a lawyer. She is a member of the Female Lawyers Association Gambia (FLAG).
