Art library

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An art library is a library with a collection focus on art and art history . As a specialist library , the art libraries are often part of institutions such as art museums , art associations , art colleges and academies, as well as art research institutes. Therefore, they mostly function as reference libraries , whose holdings can only be used in the library's own rooms and cannot be borrowed.

Most of the art libraries in German-speaking countries are organized in the working group of art and museum libraries .
