The Kunsthaus Rietberg - Museum Wilfried Koch is a museum about the life and work of the artist Wilfried Koch in Rietberg in East Westphalia .

history

In 2007, two cultural projects were inaugurated with the “Kunsthaus Rietberg - Museum Wilfried Koch” and the “Klostergarten - Sculpture Park Wilfried Koch”. The Wilfried Koch Museum was built in a Rietberg farmhouse from 1767 (inscription), which has a continuous Deele . The house houses the painterly and graphic works of the artist Wilfried Koch, supplemented by documents and documents on himself and his scientific work, which were made available to the Sparkassenstiftung through a donation from the Kochs.

concept

In cooperation with the Sparkasse Rietberg Foundation, the city of Rietberg is presenting 19 bronze sculptures by the artist around the Kunsthaus and in the Rietberg monastery garden. Around 100 paintings and around 700 drawings are presented in changing exhibitions in the museum. After a tour of the museum, you can visit the Kunsthausgarten, which is located between the old Progymnasium and the Rietberger Heimathaus. The monastery garden on the Ems , which was used by the Franciscans until 1975 before it was closed with the abolition of the monastery, awoke in 2007 from a slumber of more than thirty years. With the help of the “New 'Old' Gardens” program in East Westphalia-Lippe , this inner-city natural space, which has been handed down to the present, was restored and transformed into a public park. In connection with the sculptures by Koch, this created a place to linger and relax for the residents of the historic town center of Rietberg and its visitors.
