Plastic molding

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Plastic molding is an apprenticeship in Austria with a training period of three years.

tasks

Plastic molding deals with the production of plastic articles and plastic semi-finished products. Specific products include household and kitchen appliances , cans, lids, housings, pipes, foils or plastic parts. The operation of computer-controlled processing machines, as well as the mastery of sawing, drilling, cutting, gluing or soldering techniques is an essential part of everyday practical work. Other important tasks take place in the area of production processes: Plastic molders adjust machines or convert them. They are also responsible for ongoing quality controls on production and end products. To do this, they check the manufacturing quality of the production using various tests (strength, pressure, flexibility, heat resistance).

education

The training is primarily concerned with the production of plastic items, which are initially prepared from molding compounds (granules, powder, paste). Plastic molders mix the mass mechanically with various dyes and fillers as well as plasticizers and stabilizers. By means of injection molding , the molded parts are then produced, which ultimately become household, consumer goods or toys. Mass products such as pipes, plates, hoses and cables are also manufactured. In the last step, the finished products are cleaned and polished before packaging and storage or, if necessary, they are also painted, printed or impregnated.
