The Sechtatal and Hügelland von Baldern area is a protected area (protected area identifier DE-7127-341) in the east of the state designated by ordinance of January 1, 2005 by the Stuttgart Regional Council in accordance with Directive 92/43 / EEC (Fauna-Flora-Habitat Directive) German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg .

The approximately 435 hectare (ha) protected area “Sechtatal and Hügelland von Baldern” is part of the Eastern Alb Foreland natural area . Its seven sub-areas are at an average altitude of 480 m above sea level. NN and extend along and west of the Schneidheimer Sechtatals in the two cities and three communities

description
The protected area "Sechtatal and Hügelland von Baldern" is described as the Griesbuckellandschaft of the meteorite impact Nördlinger Ries with lean flatland hay meadows, lakes and alluvial forests.
Protection purpose
The main protection purpose is the preservation of a partly richly structured cultural landscape with species-rich meadows alternating with arable land, which is crossed by the Schneidheimer Sechta .
Habitats
The diversity of dry and moist habitat types in the protected area is described, among other things, with "natural, nutrient-rich lakes", "floodplain forests with alders, ash trees, willows", "species-rich grasslands", "chickweed-oak-hornbeam forest" and "lean flatland hay meadows" .

The FFH area “Sechtatal and Hügelland von Baldern” includes the FFH area “ Härtsfeld ” (7327-341), the nature reserves “ Ipf ” (1.111) and Stockmühle reservoir (1.222), the landscape protection areas “ Schloss Baldern ” (1.36. 051), " Ton mountain and Karkstein with eastern Barnberg slope (Barnholz, Katzenhölzle), Käsbühl, Vorderer and Hinterer Fohbühl, Siegert and ruin Schenkenstein " (1.36.004) and " Ipf with blister mountain and Reimersbergle " (1.36.001) designated as contiguous protected areas .
