Art Association St. Gallen
The St. Gallen Art Association was founded in 1827, making it one of the oldest cultural associations in St. Gallen . With around 2100 members (as of October 2010), it is also one of the largest cultural associations in all of Eastern Switzerland . The headquarters of the St. Gallen Art Association is in the building of the St. Gallen Art Museum at Museumstrasse 32, in the north-west of the city park.
Purpose of the association
At the Kunstmuseum St. Gallen, the Kunstverein realizes an exhibition program geared towards contemporary art with accompanying events as well as publications and editions for ongoing exhibitions. Its aim is to enable the population to encounter important works of fine art and to promote and exhibit the art of the region in the context of international contemporary art.
