Kuriakose (pronounced: കുര്യാക്കോസ് [Kuriakos]) is a common male given name and family name among the Thomas Christians , mainly from the central part of the state of Kerala in India and the surrounding area. The name Kuriakose has its roots in the Greek Kyrios , which means "master", "lord", "power" or "authority", from which the word Kyriakos is derived, which means "the Lord" or "came from the Lord".

The name Cyriacus in ancient Rome is considered to be the equivalent of the Greek Kyriakos , both names possibly came to Kerala via Syria and through the various trade relations that Kerala had with European nations .
