Francisco Cerúndolo (born August 13, 1998 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine tennis player .

Career

In 2016, Cerúndolo played his first professional tournament. So far he has almost exclusively played tournaments on the third-rate ITF Future Tour , on which he reached his first final in September 2018 before winning his first two titles in the two weeks that followed. In mid-2018 he won the silver medal at the South American Games. At the end of the year he was 575th in the world rankings in singles. Due to the reform of the ITF's point distribution from 2019, his points were no longer counted for the ATP rankings, which means that he was no longer listed there at the beginning of the year.

In 2019 he started again with two future titles that made him rise in the separately managed ITF rankings. In February, Cerúndolo received a wildcard from the tournament officials of the Argentina Open for the individual competition and thus his first match on the ATP Tour . Here he was defeated by his compatriot, the number 50 in the world, Guido Pella , after winning the first set, 6: 3, 4: 6, 1: 6. About a month later, the Argentine also made his debut on the ATP Challenger Tour with his successful qualification for the Challenger in Buenos Aires , where he lost at the beginning. In March he won his third Future title in singles and at the same time his first title in doubles.
