Kurt Robert Bernard Simpson (born December 8, 1977 in Puerto Limón ) is a Costa Rican soccer player .

Bernard started his football career in his native Puerto Limón . During his time with the Costa Rican second division club AD Limonense , he sustained a serious foot injury in a car accident in 2000. Faced with the decision to make a career in football or quit, he fought his way back into the team and moved to the first division in 2002 for runner-up AD Santos from Guapilés . After two years at Santos and another year at CS Herediano , the striker joined Puntarenas FC in 2005 . 2005/06 was a surprise season for the team, which was also due to the 22 goals by Kurt Bernard. Puntarenas was runner-up and he himself was the top scorer.

This success also helped him to his first appearances in the Costa Rican national team in preparation for the 2006 World Cup in Germany. As a replacement in the storm, he was nominated for Costa Rica's squad.
