Kurt Hirschfeld (engineer)

Kurt Hirschfeld (born October 26, 1902 in Groß Ottersleben , † September 28, 1994 in Aachen ) was a German civil engineer.

Life

Hirschfeld went to school in Magdeburg . He studied civil engineering in Berlin and received his doctorate there in 1941 ( on the thermal equalization in plane-parallel concrete slabs with special consideration of the temperature fluctuations caused by the setting heat ). In the same year he became managing director of the German dam research company in Berlin, which he remained until 1945. From 1944 to 1945 Hirschfeld was a lecturer for special areas of steel construction at the TH Berlin . There he was also chief engineer from 1939 to 1945 under Professors Friedrich Tölke and Franz Dischinger . From 1948 until his retirement in 1971, Hirschfeld was a full professor for structural engineering and solid construction at RWTH Aachen University .
