Kurt Schmailzl

Kurt JG Schmailzl (born July 20, 1952 in Munich ) is a German doctor and social scientist .

Life

Kurt Schmailzl studied social sciences, physics and medicine as well as art history in Munich and Berlin. He completed the first three studies and received a PhD in sociology and medicine. He initially worked on the border area between medicine, physics and technology at ES Bücherl in Berlin on the artificial heart project . His medical dissertation deals with the question of whether regulation of the artificial heart is necessary and how it is possible today. At the same time, he presented a diploma thesis on French structuralism in sociology and then obtained a doctorate in social medicine .

As an author, he worked with painters who illustrated his texts. He is seen as a prominent figure in the geographical and cultural demarcation of East and West after the fall of the Iron Curtain and works in an NGO advisory body for the EU on health policy issues.

In 2006 he was appointed honorary professor at the University of Rostock . In 2008 he was appointed Professor of International Health Management at the University of Management and Communication (FH) in Potsdam, shortly before it lost its accreditation by the Science Council.
