The Kurtboğazı Dam ( Turkish Kurtboğazı Barajı ) is located 8 km north of the city of Kazan and almost 40 km north-northwest of the capital Ankara in the Turkish province of the same name .
The Kurtboğazı Dam was built between 1963 and 1967 on the Kurt Deresi, a right tributary of the Ova Çayı . The dam is mainly used to supply Ankara with drinking water and to irrigate an area of 3780 ha. The barrier structure is a 52.6 m (according to other information 54 m) high embankment dam . The dam volume is 834,000 m³. The reservoir covers an area of 5.5 km² with normal damming. The storage volume is 96.9 million m³. The dam supplies 67 million m³ of drinking water annually.
