The Toompea Hill ( Estonian Lühike jalg ) is a street in the Estonian capital Tallinn ( German  Reval ).

course

The Kurz Domberg leads as a small lane from the Reval lower town up to the Domberg . It begins at the intersection of Raderstraße (Estonian: Rataskaevu tänav ), Nikolaistraße ( Niguliste tänav ) and Ritterstraße ( Rüütli tänav ). It initially runs in a westerly direction and then bends significantly uphill to the southwest. The Kurz Domberg ends at the gate on the Kurzen Domberg of the Reval city fortifications . A corridor leads through the gate to the west on the Lange Domberg .

History and buildings

For a long time, the Kurz Toomberg was the only connection between the Reval Lower Town and the Toompon, alongside the Long Toomberg. While the Kurz Toomberg was only intended for pedestrians, the Lange Toomberg was the road connection between Toompea and Lower Town, which were still independent towns until 1878, the city gates of which were locked in the evening.

The stairs that characterize the short Domberg today were not built until the 19th century. Today, due to its unusual appearance, the alley is also of tourist importance. There are several artisans and souvenir shops in the alley.

The Estonian name Lühike jalg literally means short leg .
