Hans-Dieter Exactly

Hans-Dieter Exactly (born May 15, 1951 in Treffurt , † August 24, 1969 in Treffurt) was a fatality on the inner-German border .

Life

On the evening of August 24, 1969, the student Hans-Dietergenau and his friend Harald S. decided to swim through the Werra to West Germany. Border guards discovered them and opened fire. Harald S. was arrested injured, Hans-Dieter Exactly was fatally shot in the head and driven across the border by the current. His body was discovered on August 31, 1969 at Wanfried's .

The shooters were given suspended sentences in 1998.
