The gate on the Toompea Hill ( Estonian Lühikese jala värav ) is a gate tower of the Reval city fortifications in the Estonian capital Tallinn (Reval).

He is at the top, the southern end of the Revaler Lower Town to the cathedral hill leading alley Short Toompea (Estonian: Lühike jalg ).

Architecture and history

The tower was built in 1454/55. The upper part of the tower was rebuilt in the second half of the 18th century. A corridor leads through the base of the tower that connects the Kurzen Toomberg with the Langen Toomberg to the west . On the tower there is a heavy iron door with fittings and a historic door lock.

There is a sculpture of the Virgin Mary by Clawes van der Sittow on the tower .
