Kwame Addo-Kufuor (born July 14, 1940 , Kumasi ) was Minister of Defense in Ghana until July 31, 2007 and member of the Ghanaian parliament for the constituency of Manhyia. He comes from the Ashanti region . He is the brother of President John Agyekum Kufuor .

He was a student at the Achimota School and studied medicine at the University College Hospital Medical School in London .

In 1970 he graduated from Cambridge University in Medicine , Great Britain. He completed further studies at Middlesex Medical School Hospital London, Great Britain in 1975 and subsequently worked in several hospitals in Great Britain such as West Suffolk General Hospital, Edmonds; St. Charles Hospital, London; Old Church Hospital, Essex and St. Helhers Hospital London.

Medical positions

The doctor of medicine Addo-Kufuor held a variety of positions, in particular he was a member of the Medical Students Association of Jesus ( Medical Students Association of Jesus College ) in Cambridge; past chairman of Jesus College United Nations Students Association; National President of the Ghana Medical Association, and Representative for West Africa to the Confederation of African Medical Associations . Addo-Kufuor was the inspector of the undergraduate exams in medicine at the University of Ghana Medical School and a member of the board of the examination board for foreign doctors applying for employment in Ghana.

Positions as politicians

Addo-Kufuor was a member of the Prisons Council of Ghana . He was also a member of the National Council of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and chairman of the health committee of the NPP.

He is a member of the health committee. Addo-Kufuor was a doctor at the Kufuor Clinic in Kumasi and a part-time professor at the School of Medical Sciences at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology .

He resigned his position as Secretary of Defense in July 2007 in order to run as the NPP's candidate in the 2008 presidential elections to succeed his brother John Agyekum Kufuor .
