Kyle Cook (born August 29, 1975 in Frankfort / Indiana ) is an American musician. He was best known as the lead guitarist of the US band Matchbox Twenty .

Career

Unlike the other members of Matchbox Twenty ( Rob Thomas , Paul Doucette and Brian Yale), Kyle Cook did not play in the previous band Tabitha's secret , but only joined in 1995 to found Matchbox Twenty together with Adam Gaynor. The latter left the band in 2005. In addition to his role as lead guitarist, Cook has always been responsible for the background vocals in all of the songs. In 2001, he played lead guitar in the song Visions of Paradise by Mick Jagger . In the song Unwell by Matchbox Twenty, he also took over the banjo. For the 2003 Matchbox Twenty album More than you think you are , he wrote the songs Feel and Soul . During the almost four-year hiatus from Matchbox Twenty between 2004 and 2007, he first worked as lead guitarist for the song Something to be on the solo album of the same name by Matchbox Twenty singer Rob Thomas. Then he devoted himself to his second band The new left , where he also works as lead guitarist and background singer. In 2007, the fourth Matchbox Twenty album Exile on Mainstream , he wrote the songs If I fall and Can't let you go . Before he even learned to play the guitar, he played the classical violin for five years.

Private

Kyle Cook has been married to his wife Sabrina since 1999 and has two daughters (pair of twins).
