Kytö is an island belonging to Finland in the Baltic Sea southwest of Helsinki in the Gulf of Finland .

The island belongs to the territory of the Finnish city of Espoo . The sea route to the northeastern port of Helsinki runs east of Kytö. Immediately southwest of Kytö is the island of Djupuddsklacken, which is only separated by a flat strip of water . A little further north is the island of Södra Kytökäringen .

The area of ​​the island, which is wooded in the interior, is about 16 hectares . It reaches a height of up to 20 meters and extends in west-east direction over about 600 and in north-south direction over about 400 meters. It is built on with several buildings and a tower formerly used as a radar tower. There is a jetty on its north side. In addition, several sea ​​marks have been set up on the island. In the south-western part of the island there is a lagoon-like bay.

30 bird species have been found on Kytö. Due to the rocky subsoil, the island cannot be used for agriculture.

From 1914 to 1918 the island was used by the Russian military, and facilities of the Finnish military followed . So there were two 152-mm cannons and the fire control tower. Military use was given up at the end of the 20th century.
