László Mérő

László Mérő (born December 11, 1949 ) is a Hungarian mathematician and psychologist . He has authored several popular science books on decision and game theory .

Life

Mérő represented Hungary at the 10th International Mathematical Olympiad in Moscow in 1968 and won the bronze medal there.

In 1974 he graduated from Loránd Eötvös University with a degree in mathematics . Subsequently worked at the Computer and Automation Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences . His research focus was on pattern recognition and artificial intelligence projects .

From 1984 he continued his research in the field of human perception, as he recognized the limited possibilities of artificial intelligence. He then worked at the Department of Psychology at Loránd Eötvös University .

He works on computer games with Ernő Rubik . The games are created and distributed by Mérő's computer game company.

Works

In his books he discusses the possibilities of rational action. To this end, he relates classic game theory problems such as the prisoner's dilemma or the dollar auction to social and psychological influences.
