Läbigi city

Läbigi Stadt is a politically independent, transport organization in the city and region of Bern . The association was founded in 1994 with the aim of reducing motorized individual traffic, raising people's awareness of the negative effects of private motorized transport on the quality of the environment and living, and promoting concrete measures to reduce and shift traffic in the public debate. «Läbigi Stadt» has around 400 members and numerous sympathizers. National Councilor Nadine Masshardt has been President since 2011 .

Municipal popular initiative «Läbigi Stadt»

In 1994 the municipal popular initiative “Läbigi Stadt” was submitted. She called for a massive reduction in motorized vehicles with various specific measures. In 2001 it was withdrawn in favor of an agreement between the local council and «Läbigi Stadt».

Other Projects

The association is committed to well-founded groundwork on transport policy issues and has already been described in the media as "a kind of militia think tank on urban transport issues". In addition, “Läbigi Stadt” attracts attention again and again with unconventional actions in public spaces, for example on transport projects such as the Bern Region Tram .
