Léon Bataille

Léon Bataille (* 1920 in Liege , † 22. December 2004 ) was a Belgian TV - journalist .

Bataille was an avid motorsport fan throughout his life. Before starting his career as a teenager, Bataille was Belgian champion in the quarter-liter motorcycle class. He also drove bike races and was able to win the title of provincial champion.

His career began in 1958 on the television program Antenne Soir at the side of Luc Varenne. From 1969 he worked for the Belgian daily La Meuse . His next professional station was the private television broadcaster RTL Television , based in Cologne. There he remained active until shortly before his death. In his broadcasts he often presented old-timer models, in total he reported on more than 300 different vehicles. Bataille was known for the high level of his journalistic coverage in motorsport.

Bataille died on December 22nd, 2004 at the age of 84.
