Hole line

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the case of a semiconductor , one speaks of hole conduction if the electrical conduction takes place predominantly in the valence band . Most of the electron states are occupied in the valence band and instead of the electrons , it is advisable to observe the unoccupied states, the holes or holes . Like electrons, these can be assigned a location, an impulse and an effective mass . It is in contrast to electron conduction .

A hole carries a positive elementary charge .

In the case of p- doping , the holes predominantly carry the electrical conduction.
