An extinguishing water well is an artificially created extraction point for extinguishing water from the groundwater . The extinguishing water can be extracted by suction or by means of a deep pump via an extinguishing water suction connection.

Operating modes

If the water level is always above 7.5 meters at rest or during the suction process, the well can be designed for suction operation. If the water level falls below this value, a well with a deep pump must be created, otherwise the maximum geodetic suction height will be exceeded and suction operation with the fire extinguishing pump is not possible.

A well with a deep pump is designed in such a way that the pump sits directly on the surface of the water and the water is pumped up to the fire pump under pressure to avoid the problem of the geodetic suction height. The deep pump can be designed either as an electric submersible pump or as a turbine submersible pump , which is partially made visible on the label with an E or a T to the right of the B.

fertility

According to DIN 14220 fire water wells are out of operation after even after their fertility divided.

  • small: 400-800 l / min
  • medium: 800-1,600 l / min
  • large: over 1,600 l / min

The yield must be checked and achieved for three hours when setting up a new one.

conditions

  • Paved driveway
  • Protection against damage
  • accessible at all times
  • Shut-off device for wells where the extraction point is below the groundwater level ( Artesian well )

history

The forerunners of today's extinguishing water wells were the community draw wells in the countryside. Before fire brigades were founded, they were often one of the few options for extracting extinguishing water for fire fighting . Large buckets with a pull chain had to be held in front of the well.

Finland

In Finland , extinguishing water wells are marked with a red letter v .
