Nine Mauna in Großriedenthal

The Nine Mauna (nine men) is a loess wall in Großriedenthal that was declared a natural monument in 1979 .

The characteristic, up to 25 meters high protrusions from the loess wall were created by weathering and erosion of the calcareous loess. The Gösingen pastor and local researcher Lambert Karner found tunnels of earth stalls below this loess formation .
