Rock carvings from stone

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The rock carvings by Stein (also known as Steinsodden or Stenstranda) are located on a boulder , which is only about 30 meters from the shore of Mjøsa (lake), on the Stein farm that gives it its name, in the nature reserve on the Steinsodden peninsula, west of Ringsaker Church , south of Moelv in Fylke Innlandet in Norway .

Based on the design, archaeologists differentiate between the carvings made by the arable farmers and those made by hunters and gatherers such as those made by stone. The boulder, which is protected against weathering by a roof, has a total of 20 figures, 16 of which can be identified as elk.

Nearby is Moelv's Zwölfsteinring .
