The historic Löwenapotheke in Salzwedel is one of the oldest pharmacies in the Altmark, it was founded in 1567. It is located in Burgstrasse not far from the Gothic monk's church and opposite the old town hall (today Salzwedel District Court ).

It became important thanks to the two local researchers from Altmark, Theodor Zechlin and Konrad Zechlin , who ran the pharmacy from 1847 to 1890. After being nationalized during the GDR era in 1955 , the pharmacy was returned to private ownership in 1991 and still exists today.
