Lübeck-Bremer Dampfschiffahrtsgesellschaft

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Lübeck-Bremer Dampfschiffahrts-Gesellschaft was a shipping company in Schleswig-Holstein . It was founded on May 1, 1890 as a stock company and operated a weekly steamboat connection between Lübeck , Danzig and Memel by means of the steamer city of Lübeck and Dora .

Originally the capital of the shipping company was 200,000, since 1906 100,000 marks. After difficult early years, the company paid dividends between 1.5 and 3 percent in the years 1896 to 1899, 1906 and 1908 to 1912 . In 1913 the Memel-Lübeck fare was 30 marks in the cabin and 14 marks on deck without food. The journey time was 50 hours.

Since November 21, 1914, the steamer city of Lübeck was considered lost. Despite this misfortune, business picked up after the First World War , as the land connection to Danzig now passed through Poland . On November 28, 1924, it was decided to convert the capital from 100,000 marks to 30,000 RM. The steamer Consul Suckau (built in the Netherlands in 1923) has been in the service of the company since 1926 .

The shareholders' meeting on April 22, 1931 resolved to dissolve the company as a result of the shipping crisis.
