Līga Liepiņa

Līga Liepiņa (born August 1, 1946 in Naukšēni , Latvian SSR ) is a Soviet and Latvian theater and film actress .

Life

Līga Liepiņa's father was a forest worker, her mother a kindergarten teacher. Liepiņa graduated from Mazsalaca High School in 1964 . Then she attended the State Drama School until 1970 and the theater faculty of the Latvian Music Academy Jāzeps Vītols in Riga until 1974 . From 1971 to 1976 Liepiņa was engaged at the State Youth Theater of the Latvian SSR, from 1977 at the Latvian National Theater , which at that time was called the State Drama Theater of the Latvian SSR .

Liepiņa made her film debut in 1967 in the film Elpojiet dziļi! ("Breathe deeper!") - Second title Četri balti krekli ("Four white shirts") with the music of Imants Kalniņš . With Pauls Butkevics she sang the duet Viņi dejoja vienu vasaru . This film was initially banned in the Soviet Union and was not shown publicly until the late 1980s. Liepiņa then brought popularity in 1969, the role of Emma in the film Pie bagātās Kundzes by the director Leonīds Leimanis . Numerous other roles followed.

In addition, Līga Liepiņa was regularly on stage. She is an actress at the Latvian National Theater in Riga.

Līga Liepiņa was married to the director, playwright and member of parliament Pauls Putniņs (1937-2018). Their daughter Anna Putniņa (* 1971) is also an actress.
