L'Hemisfèric (Spanish: El Hemisférico ) is a cultural building, planetarium and cinema in the Ciudad de las Artes y de las Ciencias in Valencia , Spain .

The building was designed by Santiago Calatrava and opened on April 16, 1998 as the first building in the City of Arts and Sciences in the drained river bed of the Turia . The architect designed the building as an oversized human eye - the eye of wisdom, which is supposed to symbolize the audiovisual experiences of the visitors when viewing the demonstrations. The 100-meter-long oval roof houses a 3D IMAX cinema and the surrounding Carl Sagan Perimeter Ring, which was named in honor of the American physicist. The entire building is surrounded by a water surface of 24,000 m².

Mainly scientific and technological topics are shown on the 1900 m², concave screen.
