from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

L'Infirmière Magazine (“Nursing Magazine ”) is a monthly French professional magazine for nurses . The magazine, which appeared for the first time in February 1987, is now part of the Dutch publishing group Wolters Kluwer , the editorial office is in Rueil-Malmaison in France. The circulation is a little less than 50,000 copies, additional offshoots appear for the specialized professional fields of nursing.

Emergence

The magazine emerged from “L'Infirmière Française”, a specialist magazine for the nursing professions, which was created in April 1923 by Léonie Chaptal, a pioneer in professional nursing, in collaboration with the publisher Calmette and Cruveilhier and Lafosse as editors-in-chief. This made Chaptal the first specialist editor for the French nursing professions. After she had headed the newspaper until 1928, the management of the magazine was no longer in agreement on the direction of the magazine and Chaptal gave up her work for "L'Infirmière". The magazine changed fundamentally following the loss of the spokeswoman for French nursing.

In 1985, Thierry Verret, journalist, and Annick Jouan, nurse at a private clinic, took over the editor-in-chief of “L'Infirmière française” and in December 1985 a new format called “La Lettre de l'Infirmière française” appeared in its place. . In February 1987 the magazine was finally published under the title “L'Infirmière Magazine”, the first issue of which dealt with the risks of the profession. During this time, the development towards a care movement began, whose goals included better pay, better working conditions and recognition of their professionalism. The magazine made itself available as an organ for this struggle and supported the formation of a care association.

After the magazine was sold by Lamarre Verlag to the Dutch publishing group Wolters Kluwer, the claim slowly changed from militant support for the struggle for recognition to a professional and subject-specific magazine that is also intended to appeal to other circles within the care sector. Separate editorships were created for the departments such as pediatric , geriatric or psychiatric nursing , some of which appear as offshoots of the newspaper and serve individual areas, for example from May 2003 the students of the nursing department with the magazine "Campus", which appears every three months.
