LRP off-road challenge
The LRP-Offroad-Challenge , formerly LRP-Asso-Challenge, is a racing series for radio-controlled model cars in Germany organized by LRP electronic GmbH .
The series is held in several classes in open races, in which it is possible to qualify for the annual German championship. The races are only held on off-road tracks, i.e. racetracks on clay, loose ground or even carpet. Typical for such routes are jumps, washboards or tables. Often times, even on-road routes are temporarily converted into off-road routes due to artificial obstacles.
The Asso-Challenge is also the counterpart to the LRP-HPI-Challenge , which is carried out exclusively on smooth tracks.
Competition mode
From summer to summer of the following year, open races are held in all classes of the Challenge. It is possible for everyone to score points in their regional ranking (north, east, south, west, center). The best points in each region and class qualify for the German championship. It will be decided on a race weekend.
The races in the summer season are usually held outdoors, while the winter races are held indoors.
Classes
Only classes with vehicles on a scale of 1:10 and 1: 8 that are powered by electric motors are offered. For beginners, there is the rookie class with simple buggies or truggies. Another class are the short course vehicles, which are modeled on the American Baja trucks. There are also four other buggy classes: 2WD, 4WD, 2WD modified and 4WD modified. These differ in the permitted drive train and the more powerful motorization in the 4WD buggy. With 321 watts, these currently have almost half a horsepower available for a vehicle weight of just over 1.5 kg.
A class for 1: 8 buggies was also introduced in the 2015/16 season. However, this will not be held in all races, as not every route meets the requirements for this vehicle category.
