The LSV Köthen was a sports club in Köthen in what is now Saxony-Anhalt . He gained fame through the athlete Hans Schwenke , who won the bronze medal in the long jump at the German championship in 1942 .

On May 25, 1942, the athlete Hans Schwenke won the bronze medal at the German championship in long jump with a width of 7.21 m . With a value of 7.22 m established the day before, it is still in the top 100 list of the best in Saxony-Anhalt. In the Gauliga season 1944/45, the football department also played in what was then the highest German league.
