La Albarda

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

La Albarda is a 50,000-square-meter garden in the urbanization La Sella , between Denia and Pedreguer in the province of Alicante in Spain . The garden belongs to the Valencian Enrique Montoliu, who began to create it in 1993 . Although it is privately owned, the garden can be visited daily between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Specialty

In many places on Spain's Mediterranean coast , gardens are being created with exotic plants and lawns that are actually far from adapting to the local climate .

With his garden, Montoliu would like to show an alternative based on the cultivation of native plants that can grow much better and faster. At the same time, this should set an example for a better environment .

Fundación Enrique Montoliu

The Enrique Montoliu Foundation was set up by the environmentalist in 1996 to create the opportunity to purchase additional nature reserves. The most important project since its inception is the Peraire Manor Reserve. This plot of land with an extension of more than 240 hectares is located in the north of the province of Castellón and is now being maintained by the Foundation.
