La Berceuse (Quadrille)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The La Berceuse is a quadrille by Johann Strauss II (op. 194). It was performed for the first time on February 2, 1857 in the Sofienbad Hall in Vienna.

Remarks

The quadrille was written for a charity event for the benefit of the child care institutions (kindergartens) in the carnival of 1857 and premiered on this occasion on February 2nd in the Sofienbad hall . The work was hardly played afterwards and was forgotten. This was also due to the large number of such works by the composer, which displaced each other from the concert programs.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 5 minutes and 32 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
