La Congiunta

La Congiunta is a museum on the outskirts of Giornico in Leventina in Ticino and was built between 1989 and 1992 according to the plans of Peter Märkli and Stefan Bellwalder.

The unadorned structure refers to the interior, the building gives no indication of its content. Bands in the roof area serve as a light source for the interior. Inside, the focus is on the sculptures, there are no disruptive facilities. It is a sequence of three main rooms, but at different heights. The last room is extended by four chambers.

museum

The building was specially designed for the art of the Swiss sculptor Hans Josephsohn . It contains around 30 reliefs and half-figures from the period 1950 to 1991.
