La Motte ( English : Green Island ) is a tidal island on the southeast tip of the Channel Island of Jersey and belongs to the municipality of Saint Clement .

It is listed in the Register of Historic Environments as a particularly important archaeological site ( Listed Place Grade 1 ).

The rugged, rocky island is on the southeast tip of Jersey and can be reached on foot during low tide. Remains of Neolithic origin from the period between 1500 and 300 BC were found on it. Found, u. a. Cairns and clams .

The remains of a cemetery on La Motte are attributed to later settlers. These were uncovered by natural erosion in 1910, researched and completely removed due to the high risk of destruction through further erosion. The finds from the excavations are in the Museum of La Hougue Bie .

The surrounding area is also registered in the register under the title SSI Green Island as a geological site of special interest and is under protection.
