La Niña de los Peines
Pastora María Pavón Cruz (* 10. February 1890 in Seville ; † 26. November 1969 ibid), called La Niña de los Peines , was a famous Spanish Flamenco - singer .
Live and act
Pastora Pavón appeared in public at the age of eight. She got her stage name from a tango verse that she sang with preference in the early years of her career:
«Péinate tú con mis peines; / mis peines son de canela; / la gachí que se peina con mis peines, / canela lleva de veras. "
"Comb your hair with my combs, / my combs are made of cinnamon, / the girl who combs my combs / really takes cinnamon with her."
In 1903 Pastora Pavón made her debut in Madrid's Café del Brillante . It was at this time that she met and fell in love with the painter Ignacio Zuloaga . She went with him to Bilbao , where she soon established herself as a flamenco singer in the Café de las Columnas . After separating from Zuloaga, Pastora returned to Seville.
