La Treille

La Treille is a district of Marseille in the 11th arrondissement of the city in the Bouches-du-Rhône department with about 900 inhabitants.

history

The old Provencal town center dates partly from the 17th century. Towards the end of the 19th century, the church in the town center, which is dedicated to St. Dominic , was built. The place was best known for the autobiographical writings of Marcel Pagnol , which he wrote down in his house La Pascaline . Pagnol also shot his first films in La Treille, some with locals. He is buried in the village cemetery.
