The megalithic complexes of La Ville ès Nouaux are located near the “Saint André Church” in “Le Pied du Côtil” near Saint Helier (Jèrriais: St Hélyi), on the Channel Island of Jersey ( Jèrriais : Jèrri).

A gallery grave (according to British nomenclature a passage tomb ) and a stone box in the stone circle called "La Première Tour" were found here in 1869 under sand dunes and therefore relatively well preserved . The place was used as a burial ground in the Bronze Age , where at least 14 urns with corpses were deposited.

description

The gallery grave, excavated in 1883, has a closed row of stones parallel to the north wall, which represents the rest of the border of the former long hill, which is also preserved in remains on the east side. Almost all of the bearing stones and seven of the nine cap stones of the chamber have been preserved. Two paved burial horizons were identified during the excavation. The upper one produced nine bell- shaped beakers and six jersey ceramic bowls surrounded by flat stones that formed a protective miniature box. The lower level was paved with pebbles and had few related finds.

The plate-shaped box made of four side stones has the internal dimensions of 1.2 × 1 m and is covered by a rectangular, barely overhanging cap stone. The stone circle, consisting of 21 upright stones of different heights and widths, forms a slight oval with a diameter of about 6.0 m. The pouring out in the circle consisted of a pile of stones over a bell-shaped core of clay. Two more stone boxes were found nearby.
