LabWindows / CVI (often just CVI , short for C for Virtual Instrumentation ) is an event-oriented ANSI C - programming environment provided by National Instruments has been developed. The program was originally released as LabWindows for DOS in 1987, but was then made available for the Windows platform . The current version number of LabWindows / CVI is 2017.
LabWindows uses the same libraries and data acquisition modules as LabVIEW , the better known product from National Instruments, and is therefore compatible with LabVIEW. While the target group of LabVIEW is more professionals and scientists, CVI is more aimed at software developers who are familiar with text-oriented programming languages such as Java , C or Python .
